Assembled gem products

Products made of two or more parts bonded or otherwise combined, such as doublets, triplets and composites.

What this family is

Every component has to be named with equal prominence when a doublet crosses the counter. A garnet-topped doublet is a thin natural garnet crown fused to a glass pavilion, not a natural garnet. An opal mosaic is small fragments arranged in a pattern rather than one stone, and mabe is an assembled cultured blister whose dome, filling and mother-of-pearl backing must be disclosed.

Scope of this family
